Throughout our history, the Sisters of St. Joseph have seen need around them and have responded to that need through service to our neighbors. Here on the prairies, we saw communities where there were no schools, no hospitals, and no nursing homes.
In the 125 years since we arrived in Kansas, we have:
• Educated 1.5 million children
• Cared for 8 million patients
• Fed 320,000 hungry neighbors
• Sheltered 21,000 homeless
These services have taken place here on the prairie in towns called Concordia, Grand Island, Salina, Sutherland, Beloit, Wichita, Papillion, Manhattan, Sabetha, Seneca, Abilene, Olathe, and Topeka. And far beyond. Our work extends from coast to coast and border to border in the United States and in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Romania, Poland, Guatemala, Mexico, and India.
What each accomplishment and every location shares is that the Sisters of St. Joseph saw a neighbor in need and reached out a hand to help.
Today, we reach out our hands to you—inviting you to join us in prayer, in hope, and in service to those whose lives need the touch of a helping hand. Your generous support ensures our work continues.
